Christmas has returned once again to us. Christmas the birthday of Christ, the great feast of all Christians, the celebration of love, the day of the poor, of the abandoned, of prisoners, the vanquished, the over-taxed!
Christmas has returned to us once again with its ever-young hope that perhaps this time there will be men of good will and that perhaps this time God's peace may become a reality among men. The annual return of Christ among us at the time of Christmas, should surely turn the hearts and minds of all men to His great precept of love of God and love of men. For this is the message of Christmas. This is the message which Christ taught as a baby, as a man walking through Palestine, and finally as the sacrifical victim on Calvary. Love!
No greater force exists in the world than that of love, for it is a divine motivating force. It inspired the Incarnation, without which there could be no redemption for man. It has been the originating force of every act which has resulted in any true and lasting good for man here on earth.
The world today is wracked by woes and evils of every sort, from pole to pole and around the entire circumference of the globe. Never before in the history of mankind have so many been oppressed, imprisoned, enslaved without just cause; never have so many been subjected to the horrors of armed violence or threatened by its shadow. Throughout the entire planet of Earth, multitude live in starvation, want, poverty or, at best, under the chilling and ever-present influence of insecurity. The evils of today flow forth, from "man's inhumanity to man" from the desertion of the divine principle of love.
If a new and better world is to be built, it must be built upon Christ, for He alone is capable of delivering us from the natural and temporal evils which beset us. Man's part in the rebirth of the new world can only be exercised through the love of man for the love of God.
This is the work of those who toil to advance the cause of the true Social Credit movement. The genius of Major Douglas certainly inspired by an ever-loving Providence - has placed in their hands the great instrument whereby a new civilization will be erected. It is the philosophy of Social Credit and the admirable policies and techniques which he outlined.
Social Crediters everywhere who, by their work of education and through their political activity, strive to lift the individual out of the category of "the masses" and to place in his hands the preponderance of power, political and economic, are surely exercising the great virtue of charity. For they do not seek for themselves the power and the public prominence which is so often the goal of those who work in political parties seeking majorities in parliaments; rather they work in obscurity, without any of the fanfare and heraldry which comes from the press or other media of communications. They are content that their fellowmen should become enlightened individuals, citizens in the real sense of the word, exercising their political rights throughout the year so that finally the governments become the servants of the individuals and not the tools of vested interests.
The directors of the movement of the Union of Electors wish each and everyone of our readers and supporters, a very merry and a very holy Christmas; they pray that our people may become ever more and more active in the spreading of those principles and teachings which alone carry any hope for our fading civilization - the teachings of Social Credit.
In this special issue of the journal, MICHAEL, the reader will discover who are the true rulers of the world. We discuss that the current monetary system is a mechanism to control populations. The reader will come to understand that "crises" are created and that when governments attempt to get out of the grip of financial tyranny wars are waged.
An Efficient Financial System, written by Louis Even, is for the reader who has some understanding of the Douglas Social Credit monetary reform principles. Technical aspects and applications are discussed in short chapters dedicated to the three propositions, how equilibrium between prices and purchasing power can be achieved, the financing of private and public production, how a Social Dividend would be financed, and, finally, what would become of taxes under a Douglas Social Credit economy. Study this publication to better grasp the practical application of Douglas' work.
